How much is heaven worth?

We often associate the word 'heaven' with somewhere in the sky where angels sit on clouds, or something like that. In this article we use the word 'heaven' to refer to the ultimate hope of all disciples of Christ: eternal life on the renewed planet earth (new heavens and a new earth) in the company of the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit). Is it possible to know about this valuable promise apart from what the Bible reveals in Revelation 21&22? We don't want to wade through tons of heavy theology (not that there is anything wrong with it), but we want to convey something that is easy to understand, something that we can ponder as we go about our business. Lets see if there is something like that?

The Bible is accompanied by the Holy Spirit, but also by an unholy spirit. God has an enemy who wages a continual war against Him and His people: 'And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon [the devil, or that ancient serpent] and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. ...But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you. He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short. ...Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring - those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus [disciples]' (Revelation 12:7; 12b; 17).

That kind of war, fought in the invisible realm, is part of life. It is a war to try to persuade people to reject the Bible as the Word of God, the guide to eternal life and Jesus as their Savior. However, we should see the physical effects of that war in our society, otherwise it is just some invisible thing that has nothing to do with us. A visible example of this war, is the way evolution opposes the Creator God. This is especially noticeable in the USA, Europe and Australia. The battle is between creation and evolution. Evolution is fighting a desperate war to get the teaching of supernatural creation banned in the science classroom. That is fair enough, if it means pure science will be taught, but that is not the intention. The spirit of darkness wants evolution taught as fact in science and he has many willing evangelists to do it. Evolution happened in the past and science studies the laws of nature in the present. So it should not be taught in the science classroom either. Evolution has only one message: supernatural creation is not true and therefore the Bible is not true. The reason the devil wages war against the Bible, is because it shows the Way to God's eternal kingdom. He rebelled against God, was thrown out of heaven and is destined for eternal punishment. His goal is to deceive as many people as possible to make the same mistake: rebel against God, reject God's good plan and be removed from God's presence for ever. He has many strategies, but one of the most successful is the teaching of evolution.

His main battle ground is the school system. What better place for indoctrination than the schools where the learners study and believe what they are taught? Therefore his evangelists are eager to portray evolution as science, even though science itself excludes evolution (science is about present experimentation, evolution about the past and how things evolved). They are so adamant about this, that they will fight to prevent criticism of evolution (which usually comes from concerned disciples of the Creator). The strategy is to label the critics as religiously motivated, while evolution is 'science.' That is a lie, because evolution has never been seen and has to be believed by faith. Therefore it is a religion and an anti-God religion at that.

Evolution today is one of the strongest evidences that the Bible is a reliable book. If it wasn't, the devil wouldn't organize this evolution war against the Bible. Take note that it is only against the Bible which clearly teaches that God has an enemy. What makes it even more fascinating, is that anybody who studies evolution knows it is an impossible process. Evolutionists can't explain how the genetic code evolved, or how the first living thing evolved. Evolution is a visible reminder that the Bible is true and we can trust it. The devil knows that the Bible is the Word of God, that is why he fights against it. He wants many people to join him in this fight, although he has already been sentenced to eternity in the lake of burning sulfur. Maybe he deludes himself that he can postpone that time indefinitely or that his sentence won't happen. Yet it was predicted in Genesis 3:15 that the redeemer will crush his head and that did happen when Jesus was crucified and the devil's right to accuse was taken away.

Another reason we know that God is true is, if the Creator didn't exist, who would need evolution? Then people would live and die like animals. Evolution is not science and seldom patents anything. It is a useless subject, unless it teaches people that the Bible is not true. Now comes the beauty of it all. If there had been no God, it would not have been necessary to battle the book that reveals the existence of God. Why do people like Eugenie Scott war against creationists and Intelligent Design people? She deceives people that evolution is science. Science is science, and that is it. She is one of the chief evangelists for hell, thinking it is very smart to fight God. One can only pray for her.

Summary: evolution is a testimony to the truth of the Bible, a witness that this earth will eventually become the headquarters of God, the Creator.

"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” 1 Corinth 1:27
