An Equal Opportunity Country

Let us imagine that we can obtain a transcript of one of Almighty God’s planning sessions, in heaven, before time began (Titus 1:2).

Present: God, the chief Architect, Jesus who will execute the plan, and the Holy Spirit who will administer the plan (Matt 18:19).

The Goal: To create a peaceful, eternal kingdom (Rev 21-22).

The following were decided on:
Humans will be made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). That means that they will have freedom of decision, because they are not robots (Genesis 2:16-17).

Every human being will have equal opportunity to choose to join or reject God’s family who will live in God’s eternal kingdom.

All people, regardless of race, gender, age, education level, wealth, et cetera, will have an equal opportunity to share in the benefits of the Kingdom. God is just in His dealings with man.

The loyalty of people who choose to believe in God and his kingdom, will be tested so that they will not defect after a million years or so (James 1:2-4).

People will not be tested on their words only, but by what they do (Matthew 7:21).

All people through all the ages will be subjected to the same test or choice, so no one will be able to complain that God was unfair. No one will be able to accuse Him of favoritism (Col 3:25).

Those who persevere and pass the test will be eternally rewarded (2 Corinthians 5:10).

God will inspire certain human writers to record everything he wants to reveal to people. It will be a permanent book that will remain the same for all generations, namely the Bible.

How the plan came to fulfillment:
Since angels were also created with a free will, if one of them wanted to defect, God would allow it. God is omniscient (having very great/unlimited knowledge and understanding) and omnipotent (having very great/unlimited power), and knew that an angel would do exactly that. God would allow him to set up his own rebellious kingdom, from where he would oppose God’s plans.

This would give man the opportunity to decide which ruler to follow, God or the rebellious angel (called the devil, satan, the serpent of old, or the dragon).

The devil would be allowed to become the unseen spirit ruler of human society on earth. The devil would reveal his character in the society that he rules. What he represents is basically what makes an eternal, peaceful country impossible: murder, theft, hatred, violence, immorality, infidelity, et cetera. So the character of the devil is exactly the opposite of God’s character.

God as spirit would remain invisible until he appears in a visible human body, as the Son, Jesus Christ to die for the sins of humanity and save all who wish from the dominion of satan. In this way God’s eternal, peaceful kingdom begins in men’s hearts while they are living on earth. It will be consummated after God’s judgement of all the dead who will rise for eternity (Rev 20:11-15). The new heavens and the new earth will then be the home of all who chose God as king and saviour. The devil, his angels and followers will be confined in the lake of fire.

But He wrote it all down in a book, indestructible, eternal, the Bible, so all people through the ages have the same specific revelation of God and his plan. Those who can’t read, He gave the natural revelation of God: nature testifies about Him (Rom 1:19-20).
