Getting to know the Royal Family
|Created by Gerard de Vos|
Category: Bible related
Most of us are well aware of the Royal Family of England. There are people who would like to know more about them. How does one do that? The easiest would be to read their biographies. In them one can read about their history, family members, who they married, and details about their habits, ideas and way of life. It is as if one becomes part of the family. Books introduce us to people we will seldom have the opportunity of meeting.
What about the real Royal family (God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit)? They also have a Book, the Bible, which in some ways are identical to a biography, and in some ways different. This book introduces the most important family ever. It discloses their likes and dislikes, what they are planning and doing at present, where they come from, and how they as Royalty see the future. The main way that the Bible differs from other biographies, is that God used human instrumentality to write down His revelation, but He is the Author (2 Tim 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed.”). And the miracle of this book is that the reader can become part of the Royal family! (John 1:12-13, “To all who received him to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”)
God used two mediums to reveal himself:
1 - One is through nature for those not having access to the Bible
(Rom 1:19-20, “since what may be known about God is plain to people, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - has been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”)
It is curious that evolutionists want to teach that nature was not created by God.)
2 - God also revealed himself through the Bible.
No human who ever lived will be able to say at the end of time that he/she knew nothing about God. Not only that, we can have a relationship with this living God. He tells us to seek Him. Where does one seek an invisible Spirit? As the analogy of people getting to know somebody by reading their biography shows, we seek God in His Word. That is the way to establish a relationship with Him. Actually it is the only way, since God does not reveal Himself visually, because that would cause subjectivism.
Did God give us other books besides the Bible? No, we know of no books that fit the description of the Bible: authenticated as God’s Word, indestructible and powerful. If one accepts other books, it has to be proved that they have the same revelatory life time as the Bible, which is about 3500 years. None have been found up till now, though many enemies of God would like to spread the message that there are some.
In His ‘business’, God is treating all people equally when it comes to information. He even sends a personal ‘guide’ (the Holy Spirit) along to help us understand the Book. But, what each person does with the information is something God has, in His wisdom, decided not to interfere with, so no one can boast of favoritism.
Conclusion: God gave us a special book. This single book acts as our teacher about God in the same way as a biography teaches about the people or families it writes about. In this one book we will find the history and plans of the Trinity which constitute the Royal Family. Buying the Book and getting acquainted with its Author will be the best investment a person can ever make.
